Oranges in Arles Print
Oranges, a novel, a guidebook and provincial lamp on floral tablecloth feature in this still life dedicated to Van Gogh and his incendiary time in Arles, France. A prolific reader, Van Gogh did many still lives with books. Fascinated by his color treatment and depiction of light, I made this with a similar focus on the simplicity, clarity and brightness of color, on the anniversary of the fateful day on which he cut off his ear.
